We took the boys to the new Telus Spark theatre at the Space Science Centre in Calgary. I enjoyed the theatre experience and was glad that the boys had a chance to spend some time together. The picture is from an earlier visit with Zac to Heritage Park.
I made a trip back to Grande Prairie for the funeral of Beatrice Lilge, Charlene's mom, and got to visit with Carlyn and Gary, who were kind enough to drive me there. We had gone to the Stampede parade together but hadn't had much time to get reacquainted. Although it was a sad time, it was good to see the Lilge family again, and spend time with Charlene. The graveside service was a nice tribute to a really good mom. I remember attending birthday parties and spending time at Charlene's house in Grande Prairie. She led a long full life, and kept a great home and glued a family together.
For anyone who hasn't done it for a long time, you should take a Greyhound trip! The characters on the bus are a story in themselves. I traveled back from GP to Calgary and was entertained all the way. I met a lovely young woman on the bus, and she shared her trials and tribulations and life story with me. She was from Ontario and had a long ride ahead of her.
Lyle picked me up and we spent a quiet weekend at a provincial park near Carsland, east of Calgary. We relaxed, caught up on needlepoint and did some troubleshooting on the electrical system of the truck and RV.
We got to revel in Zachary's football. He is playing his first year of Bantam ball as a tackle for the Bantam Stampeders. It was fun to see his games, and watch him excel and learn. It really felt like fall when I got to stand again on a football field and cheer!
