Lyle, Kaden and I joined Michelle and Kevin, and Debbie and Gerald Ooms with Harley at Cataract Creek for the July long weekend. The weather was iffy but it didn't rain on us, and we managed to hike to a waterfall, (the first one Kaden said he saw that wasn't on a computer screen!) do some bike riding (and bike walking after a pedal fell off in the meadow), fly a kite, perfect our ladder game skills, learn to play bush bocce, learn the art of sharing around campfires, and read more chapters of the Hunger Games. It was a grand weekend. Kaden was reluctant to come...he had just finished school and was anxious to spend time with his friends, not his grandparents, but he rose to the occasion. He isn't a big fan of outdoor pit toilets, and he never connected with any kids his age, but he learned the art of fording a creek, and the value of a hiking stick.
